What aspects of your job do you enjoy the most?
Brian Mack, iHeartMedia: Helping people with compassion and seeing them breakthrough to another level. Watching listeners/consumers happiness in real time, in real life during our live activations. Adam Rivers, WKCI / WKSS: Interacting with listeners – whether it be on the phone or in person. Derrick Cole, WAEB: Always the people. When you meet a listener and hear how you’ve made them laugh or how they remember a concert you’ve given them tickets too, to me that is the best part. Big Rob, KKPL/KMAX: Hands down meeting the listeners. There are so many great people in our local communities and I love engaging them and making them lifelong fans and supporters. Music too! Erik Bradley, B96: Working closely with the artists we play on all facets; hearing new music / sharing new music; networking; and being a part of the general overall magic & power of radio Mike O’Donnell, WKRZ: The weekly music meeting is one of my favorite things to do. I also love working and seeing new talent mature into seasoned personalities…one of my favorite things about the business! Jon Zellner, iHeartMedia: The people I have the opportunity to work with every day. |
Drew Heyman, WHYI: The listeners, talking to them, empowering them, and hanging out with them at events. Buster Satterfield, WIOQ: Creating events and content for the community and seeing it come to life. Orlando Davis, WLLD: Strangely enough, I love seeing people who strolled in with that glimmer of possibility get to walk into bigger situations because we gave them a start. Pretty proud of our success stories. Toby Knapp, WASH: Lately, being in the room with the geniuses behind some of our emerging LIVE Studio UI/UX stuff we have coming down the pipe. We are literally dreaming up and creating and breaking and re-inventing literally everything about how a live studio operates and being the guinea pig for the tests of this stuff has been just exhilarating. Our RCS/Dev/iHM Tech teams around the world are literally second to none! Rich Davis, KDWB: So much! Music, working with my talent and young talent to help them grow their careers (even if they keep leaving me, lol), and coming up with left of center promotions that keep my brands in the forefront of listeners minds. Java Joel, WHBC: I still really enjoy scheduling music. I find it relaxing. Like musical Tetris. |
Jeff Hurley, iHeartMedia: The flexibility of my days and weeks. There are days I start at 6:30 and days I start later. Some nights I finish at 5, other nights I hop on after the kids are in bed and catch up on projects. The nature of my position makes it easier for me to move things around, so I can work effectively without being completely locked in an 8-5 clock. I don’t miss out on school drop-offs, soccer practice, etc. Valentine, WBHT: Easy…the music! Rick Vaughn, KENZ: I’m playing AC/DC in the mountains, I’m not digging a ditch! At the end of the day, we’re playing music for people for a paycheck! Bob Patrick, WXLK: The interaction with a live audience/crowd will always be my favorite part. From talking to listeners at a gig to getting an entire arena hyped up, and everything in between, the in-person stuff will always be #1 for me. Oddly enough, I still really enjoy creating production pieces from scratch. The last-minute weekend promo I get at 4:30pm on a Friday, not so much. For the most part, though, I still dig the creative imaging process. Mike Klein, WZFT: Connecting in the community! |
