On Friday June 28th, iHeartMedia Top 40 WRVW (107 5 The River)/Nashville held Woody & Jim’s Big Fat All-Inclusive Wedding at the beautiful Arrington Vineyards. The station created the mass wedding in response to a new Tennessee marriage requirement designed to make it more difficult for some couples to get married. Morning show host Jim Chandler performed the ceremony for sixteen (16) couples, with help from dozens of local vendors that donated their time and talents to making the day special.
Program Director Jonathan Shuford commented, “Countless couples’ weddings will be affected by this new law, and we wanted to give them an opportunity to have the wedding they deserve, regardless of their religious affiliations or sexual orientation. It was an emotional and truly special day, and a true testament to the power of radio to start a conversation and engage with our community in a way that no other medium can.
