Two days after the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, the Recording Academy, AEG Ehrlich Ventures and CBS will celebrate the legendary career of the late music icon Prince by presenting Let’s Go Crazy: The Grammy Salute to Prince. The live concert taping will be held Tuesday, January 28 at 7:30 p.m. PT at the Los Angeles Convention Center and air on CBS later this year.
The special will feature a lineup of all-star artists paying tribute to Prince’s unprecedented influence on music, including: Alicia Keys, Beck, Camila Cabello, Coldplay‘s Chris Martin, Common, Earth, Wind and Fire, Foo Fighters, Gary Clark Jr., H.E.R., John Legend, Juanes, Mavis Staples, St. Vincent and Usher. Plus, a historic joint performance by several of Prince’s most celebrated musical friends and collaborators, including his band The Revolution, Sheila E. and Morris Day and The Time. Additional performers will be announced in the coming weeks.
In a statement to Rolling Stone, Recording Academy President/CEO Deborah Dugan said, “Prince. The Purple One. His Royal Badness — regardless of how you identify him, he is indisputably one of the greatest musical virtuosos of all time. With his subversive attitude and commanding nature, he straddled musical genres and created electrifying music that was bursting with character. He continues to serve as an inspirational icon for artists and fans worldwide, and we are so honored to pay tribute to his legacy.”
The special follows Grammy tribute specials from recent years honoring The Beatles, Elton John, Stevie Wonder and others.
