The Lumineers will release their third album, appropriately titled III, on September 13. The lead single “Gloria” arrived at radio and digitally today. Singer Wesley Schultz says the song “is about love between an addict and her family.”
According to the album’s announcement, III is a concept record “presented in three chapters, with each one centering on one main character from a fictitious family known as the Sparks, who span three generations in the album’s storyline.” Band co-founder and multi-instrumentalist Jeremiah Fraites added in a statement that “This collection of songs worked out in a beautiful way, and I feel with this album we’ve really hit our stride.”
The Lumineers have also announced the III world tour, with a run of initial dates in the U.S., Australia and Europe, playing a mix of festival and headlining dates. The trek begins with the Hangout Musical Festival in Gulf Shores, AL on May 19.
