Taylor Swift‘s redo of her 2012 album Red, Red (Taylor’s Version), easily debuts at #1 on this week’s Billboard 200 chart. With it, Swift makes history by tying Barbra Streisand as the only two women with 10 #1 albums in their career. Red (Taylor’s Version) earned 605,000 equivalent album units in its first week, according to MRC Data, giving it the second-biggest opening week of 2021, after Drake‘s Certified Lover Boy last month.
Red (Taylor’s Version) also had the best week of the year in terms of traditional album sales with 369,000 units. Swift released Fearless (Taylor’s Version) in April, which also debuted at #1.
Coming in at #2 is the debut album from Silk Sonic, the team-up of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak. An Evening With Silk Sonic earned 104,000 equivalent album units and gives Mars the fourth Top 10 album of his career. K-Pop act TWICE arrive at #3 on the album chart, with Formula of Love: O+T=<3 earning 66,000 equivalent album units.
At #4 is last week’s #1 album, Still Over It from Summer Walker. The aforementioned Certified Lover Boy from Drake is at #5. Morgan Wallen comes in at #6, followed by Ed Sheeran at #7. Veteran country artist Jason Aldean has the fourth debut in the Top 10 this week, with Macon arriving at #8. The Top 10 is rounded out by Kanye West‘s Donda, which climbs back up the chart thanks to its deluxe digital reissue and Doja Cat at #10 with Planet Her.
Next week’s Billboard 200 chart is sure to be dominated by Adele‘s brand-new album 30.
