After keeping fans in the dark about the music on her new album Midnights, Taylor Swift released her tenth album overnight at, yes, midnight.
However, Swift gave fans some additional information hours before its arrival with a commercial during Thursday Night Football announcing a series of companion videos. The trailer for the Midnights videos shows Swift in a variety of costumes from the impending clips. She also revealed the videos will feature a variety of “amazing actors” alongside her, including Laura Dern, comedian Mike Birbiglia, the sisters of Haim and her producer/collaborator Jack Antonoff. The first video, “Anti-Hero,” debuted this morning.
Then at 3 am, Swift released a deluxe edition of Midnights with seven additional songs. “Surprise! I think of Midnights as a complete concept album, with those 13 songs forming a full picture of the intensities of that mystifying, mad hour,” Swift announced in an Instagram post. “However! There were other songs we wrote on our journey to find that magic 13. I’m calling them 3am tracks. Lately I’ve been loving the feeling of sharing more of our creative process with you, like we do with From The Vault tracks. So it’s 3am and I’m giving them to you now.”
