Taylor Swift‘s Folklore returns to #1 on this week’s Billboard 200 album chart, giving the Pop superstar yet another chart record. Swift has surpassed Whitney Houston‘s record for the most total weeks at #1 for a female artist, with 47. Folklore earned 87,000 equivalent album units for the week, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data and has now spent seven weeks cumulatively at #1. Following Swift and Houston is Adele, who has the third-most total weeks at #1 for a female artist with 34. Of course, The Beatles are far and away the leader with 132 weeks at #1 overall throughout the Billboard 200 chart’s history.
Folklore saw another boost due to Swift selling more autographed copies of her newest record online and at independent record stores, along with more new merchandise bundles. She also performed “Betty” on the Academy of Country Music Awards and released the live version digitally, which counts towards her digital tracking numbers.
At #2 is Pop Smoke’s Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon, followed by YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s Top at #3. The biggest debut this week comes from Alicia Keys and her new album Alicia, which was postponed from a March release. Billboard reports that Alicia earned 62,000 equivalent album units during its first week, in part due to a concert ticket bundle for a tour that was postponed to 2021.
Legends Never Die from Juice WLRD is at #5 this week. Rappers Moneybagg Yo and Blac Youngsta team up for the second-highest debut of the week, with Code Red at #6. Veteran Country artist Keith Urban debuts at #7 with The Speed of Now, Part 1 at #7.
The original Broadway cast recording of Hamilton: An American Musical lands at #8 with Lil Baby’s My Turn at #9.
The fourth top 10 debut this week comes from Lil Tecca with Virgo World, arriving at #10.
