Taylor Swift‘s re-recorded version of her second album Fearless, titled Fearless (Taylor’s Version), easily debuts at #1 on this week’s Billboard 200 chart. Of course, the original Fearless debuted at #1 as well back in 2008 and is the second-best selling album of her career. The new version of Fearless is Swift’s ninth #1 album overall, with the biggest week of any release so far this year, earning 291,000 equivalent album equivalent units.
With Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Swift ties Madonna for the second-most #1 albums among all female artists, behind Barbara Streisand, who has 11. It also gives Swift her third #1 album in under a year, making her the first woman to accomplish that feat, with Folklore debuting at #1 in August and Evermore also debuted at #1 in December. Billboard notes that the three biggest weeks of the past eight months all belong to Swift as well. She also has three of the top five best-selling albums in 2021 currently.
As for the rest of the top 10, The Best of DMX climbs to #2 following the rapper’s untimely passing earlier this month, earning 77,000 equivalent album units. Justin Bieber‘s Justice is at #3, followed by Morgan Wallen at #4 and Rod Wave at #5.
Ariana Grande‘s Positions returns to the top 10 at #6, thanks to its release on vinyl and cassette on April 9. The Weeknd is at #7 with The Highlights, with Lil TJay at #8, Pop Smoke at #9 and Dua Lipa at #10.
