The soundtrack to the new DC Comics movie Suicide Squad debuts at #1 on this week’s Billboard 200 chart. The soundtrack features new collaborations from current artists, covers and older songs heard throughout the film such as CCR‘s “Fortunate Son” and “Without Me” by Eminem, as well as lead single “Heathens” from Twenty One Pilots. The soundtrack earned 182,000 equivalent album units according to Nielsen Music, with 128,000 in sales, giving it the best sales week for a film soundtrack since Fifty Shades of Grey in early 2015.
Drake is at #2 once again with Views. The second-highest debut of the week comes from veteran Christian rockers Skillet whose new album Unleashed arrives at #3. If I’m Honest from Blake Shelton is at #4, bolstered by a sale in the Google Play music store pricing the album at just 99 cents. Now 59, the latest entry in the ongoing compilation series, debuts at #5, completely via traditional album sales.
The aforementioned Twenty One Pilots land at #6 with Blurryface, which is also on sale via Google Play for 99 cents. Last week’s #1 album, Major Key from DJ Khaled, slips to #7.
