A deluxe 25th anniversary edition of Stone Temple Pilots‘ debut album Core is on the way this fall. Rhino will release multiple formats of the Core reissue on September 29, featuring a mix of rarities, demos and live cuts.
A 2-CD deluxe version features Core remaster with a bonus disc of B-sides and demos (a 1-disc remastered version will also be available). The Super Deluxe Edition includes the remaster of Core with over two hours of demos and live songs, including STP’s entire 1993 MTV Unplugged set. It also will come with a vinyl copy of Core and a DVD with a 5.1 surround sound mix and the videos for “Sex Type Thing,” “Plush,” “Wicked Garden” and “Creep.” The entire package will be inside a hardcover book. Additionally, it will be a limited edition with just 15,000 copies.
There is also a limited edition bundle of the deluxe edition which combines that version with a bonus new 7″ vinyl single for “Plush.”
The demos include multiple tracks recorded when the band was called Mighty Joe Young as well as a previously unheard track called “Only Dying.”
STP lead singer Scott Weiland passed away in 2015 and the surviving members of the band are sadly now mourning the loss of Chester Bennington, who fronted STP from 2013-2015.
