As part of Sony‘s overall financial results for the corporation fiscal Q1 for 2021, Sony Music saw an impressive 54 percent growth in revenue. Revenue for the quarter reached approximately $1.82 billion compared to a year ago when the category totaled $1.2 billion. Profits were up from $325 million last year to $506 million.
Recorded music reached approximately $992 million in revenue, a 52 percent increase, while publishing grew 49 percent to $428 million. Visual media revenue increased 15 percent to approximately $483 million. Streaming grew by 56 percent and physical sales increased 61 percent in the quarter.
The best-selling Sony artists during the quarter included Harry Styles, Lil Nas X, The Kid LAROI., Doja Cat, DJ Khaled, Luke Combs and more.
