Solange Knowles nabs her first-ever #1 album, as A Seat at the Table arrives atop this week’s Billboard 200 chart. A Seat at the Table earned 72,000 equivalent album units according to Nielsen Music, 46,000 of which were in traditional album sales. A Seat at the Table was only announced on September 27, three days before it arrived digitally. A physical release is set for November 18. Solange and her sister Beyoncé are now the third-ever pair of siblings to both have a #1 album, after Michael & Janet Jackson and Master P & Silkk the Shocker.
Indie singer-songwriter Bon Iver (aka Justin Vernon) debuts at #2 with 22, A Million, his first album since 2011’s self-titled record, which nabbed him a pair of Grammys. With 58,000 in pure album sales, Billboard reports that 22, A Million was the best-selling record of the week.
Views from Drake is at #3, with the Suicide Squad soundtrack at #4. Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ new album The Getaway jumps back up the chart to #5, thanks to the album being bundled with tickets to the rockers’ upcoming 2017 tour. Last week’s #1 album, Illuminate by Shawn Mendes, dips to #6, followed by Ariana Grande at #7 and Twenty One Pilots at #8. The legendary Van Morrison debuts at #9 with Keep Me Singing.The top ten is rounded out by Travis Scott‘s Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight.
