As Vice President of Rhythm Crossover Promotion since 2014, Davey proved indispensable to the label’s success at the format. The Weeknd would become 2015’s “#1 Artist at Rhythm” as “Can’t Feel My Face” and “The Hills” both took #1. Meanwhile, Post Malone went #1 on his debut single “White Iverson.” In addition to continuing campaigns for the aforementioned artists, he’s spearheading Drake for Cash Money Records and Mike Posner under the label’s strategic partnership with Island Records and Belly via the partnership with Roc Nation.
“Davey is the true modern day architect of Rhythm Crossover Promotion,” comments Walk. “His in-depth understanding of the music and how it breaks allows our artists to overachieve in this space.”
“Rhythm is a specialized music and lifestyle format. There’s nobody that embodies the format and has the respect of his peers more than Davey. He has dominated with #1 market share year after year. This promotion is well-deserved” adds Spangler.
“Monte, Avery, Charlie, and Gary exhibit such incredible passion for music,” says Davey. “That carries over to how they execute. They always come up with innovative plans and look at the big picture. I’ve learned so much from being around these gentlemen. It’s almost like they can see the future when it comes to hot records. It’s an honor for me to be a part of that process, introducing and establishing artists at Rhythm Radio.”
Davey Dee began his career at Arista Records in 1991. In 1996, he joined Motown Records. 2000 saw him join the team at London-Sire Records for two years before returning to Motown in 2006. 2011 saw him join Republic Records as National Director of Rhythm Crossover Promotion upped to Vice President of Rhythm Crossover Promotion in 2014.
