Republic Records has named Dan Cohen VP of Marketing – as announced today by EVP Marketing & Commerce, Jim Roppo.

Joining the team this month, Cohen will spearhead marketing initiatives for various artists on the label. Projects include the likes of John Mellencamp, James Blake, Phantogram, Volbeat, Marian Hill, The Beat Bugs and Sing Street soundtracks, in addition to recent signings Isaac Gracie and JMR.

About his addition to the company, Roppo states, “Over the past two decades, Dan has established himself as one of the most respected executives in the game – with good reason! He’s equally tenacious and savvy when it comes to breaking new acts and augmenting the legacies of superstars, and I’ve admired his work from afar for many years. I’m honored to formally welcome him to Republic Records.”

“As an outsider looking in, I was always in awe of Republic Record’s ability to develop and break new talent while establishing themselves as the industry leader, so I am thrilled and honored to be joining the team.  I am incredibly grateful to Roppo, Monte, Avery, and Charlie for the opportunity” adds Cohen.

Most recently, Cohen spent three years as VP/Marketing at Caroline, fueling the company’s biggest year in 2015 with four number one debuts. Prior, he served as VP/Marketing at Capitol working on projects for everybody from Gorillaz and LCD Soundsystem to Daft Punk and Korn. Throughout his esteemed career, he’s held executive positions at V2 Records, PALM Pictures, Girlie-Action, and Astralwerks. He’s now based in the Republic Records New York headquarters.
