TIDAL has announced its third annual benefit concert, TIDAL X: Brooklyn. The event will take place on October 17 at the Barclays Center. The charity concert will benefit the victims of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria as well as this month’s earthquake in Mexico. TIDAL X: Brooklyn will be hosted by Angie Martinez. An artist lineup will be revealed soon. TIDAL subscribers will get first crack at tickets, with a general on-sale next Tuesday, September 26.
Ed Sheeran‘s smash hit “Shape of You” has become the most-streamed song on Spotify ever. “Shape of You” now has 1,318,420,396 streams, having just overtaken the previous record-holder, Drake‘s “One Dance” (which stands at 1,317,143,742 streams). Also according to Spotify’s data, Sheeran is currently the most-streamed artist in the world, with over 40 million monthly listeners as well as the second most-streamed artist of all time on Spotify, with over 10 billion streams (second to Drake).
Saturday Night Live has announced the hosts and musical guests for its first three episodes of the fall. The season premiere (9/30) was already announced, starring Ryan Gosling and JAY-Z. The legendary comedy show’s second episode of the year will air on October 7 be hosted by Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot, with Sam Smith as the musical guest. On October 14, SNL will be hosted by comedian Kumail Nanjiani and P!nk will appear as the musical guest. Smith just released a new single “Too Good at Goodbyes” off his as-yet-unannounced sophomore record while P!nk’s new album Beautiful Trauma arrives October 13, the day before her SNL appearance.
Gwen Stefani recently started teasing on social media that Christmas music would be on the way from the singer. Now You Make It Feel Like Christmas has been announced, which features a mix of original tunes and covers of holiday standards. The first taste of the album is the title track, which is a duet with her boyfriend Blake Shelton.
Another new Christmas album was announced this week, as the compilation Holidays Rule, Vol. 2 will feature an all-star lineup of artists. Most notably, Paul McCartney, Jimmy Fallon and The Roots have teamed up for a re-recording of Sir Paul’s holiday standard “Wonderful Christmastime.” Other acts on the collection include Norah Jones, Judah & The Lion, Andrew McMahon and The Decemberists. Holidays Rule, Vol. 2 will be out October 13 via Capitol Records.
