Paul McCartney has announced the first dates of his “Freshen Up” tour in the Canada and the UK. Sir Paul will play Quebec City (9/17), Montreal (9/20), Winnipeg (9/28) and Edmonton (9/30). Then at the end of the year, he’ll play his home turf of Liverpool on December 12, as well as Glasgow on December 14 and London’s O2 Arena on December 16. McCartney’s new album Egypt Station will be out September 7.
Elvis Costello has announced he is canceling a number of tour dates this summer to fully recover from surgery following a recent cancer scare. In a note on his website, the musician says that he had faced “a small but very aggressive cancerous malignancy that could be defeated by a single surgery.” He adds that he needs the recovery time to get back to his full strength and begin touring again, which is why he has canceled three UK shows plus five more shows throughout Europe in July.
In his statement, Costello ends by saying, “Take very good care of your loved ones but Gentleman, do talk to you friends – you’ll find you are not alone – seek your doctor’s advice if you are in doubt or when it is timely and act as swiftly as you may in these matters. It may save your life. Believe me, it is better than playing roulette.”
Costello is slated to release a new album in October and then begin a North American tour in early November.
Future and Meek Mill surprised fans this morning, as both rappers dropped unexpected new releases at midnight. Future released his Beastmode 2 mix tape, the follow-up to 2015’s Beastmode. Meek Mill put out his first new material since being released from prison in April with the Legends of the Summer EP, which includes “Stay Woke,” the new track he performed at the BET Awards in June.
