The 2017 MTV Europe Music Awards were handed out over the weekend, with Shawn Mendes among the big winners. The singer-songwriter earned Best Song for his hit “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” as well as Best Artist overall. Dua Lipa was named Best New Artist while Camila Cabello won for Best Pop Artist. Zayn was given the Best Look award. Best Video went to Kendrick Lamar‘s “HUMBLE.” Ed Sheeran was named Best Live Act. Other winners included Eminem, Coldplay, Thirty Seconds to Mars and David Guetta. U2 was also honored with the Global Icon award. The show also marked Eminem’s first performance of his new single “Walk on Water” (with Skylar Grey filling in for Beyoncé).
Last month, Foo Fighters held their first ever CalJam festival in San Bernardino, CA. The Foos were joined by Queens of the Stone Age, Cage the Elephant, Liam Gallagher and many other acts. Apparently the show was such a success that the band has already announced a 2018 version. Foo Fighters will headline CalJam18 on October 6, 2018, once again at Glen Helen Regional Park & Festival Grounds in San Bernardino.
Jeff Lynne’s ELO is going on tour for the first time in more than 35 years. Ten dates have been announced for the summer of 2018 in Oakland (8/2); Los Angeles (8/4); Denver (8/8); Houston (8/10); Dallas (8/13); Rosemont, IL (8/15); Detroit (8/16); Toronto (8/18); New York City (8/21) and Philadelphia (8/24). Electric Light Orchestra has been officially billed as “Jeff Lynne’s ELO” since 2014 when Lynne reformed the band with keyboardist Richard Tandy.
