he lineup for the 2016 Made in America festival in Philadelphia has been revealed. Sponsored by Budweiser and curated by Jay Z, this year’s edition is topped by Rihanna and Coldplay. The eclectic lineup also includes ColleGrove (2 Chainz and Lil Wayne), Jamie xx, Chance The Rapper, Bryson Tiller, Gary Clark Jr., Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, Grimes, DJ Khaled and many, many more. The annual festival will be held over Labor Day weekend (September 3-4).
As expected, Drake dominated the MuchMusic Awards on Sunday night. The Toronto native won five trophies at the Canadian music awards show for Best Video of the Year, Best Director, Best Hip-hop Video and Most Buzzworthy Canadian, mostly due to the hit “Hotline Bling.” He also Best MuchFACT video along with Majid Jordan for their hit “My Love.” Alessia Cara won for Best New Canadian Artist.
Rita Ora has signed a worldwide recording contract with Atlantic Records UK. The Pop singer will be returning to the studio and working on new material for release later this year. Ora said, “Music is my first love and I am looking forward to getting my new songs released. I’m thankful to my new Atlantic Records family for all their support and encouragement. The next chapter is going to be incredible.”
Prince Be, one-half of Hip-hop duo P.M. Dawn, has passed away at the age of 46. Born Attrell Cordes, Prince Be co-founded P.M. Dawn with his brother DJ Minutemix and had a major hit with “Set Adrift On Memory Bliss” in 1991, and multiple other charting hits throughout the ’90s.
Grouplove has announced that their third album, titled Big Mess, will be released on September 9. The band released a new video today teasing the new record and confirmed that the first single, “Welcome To Your Life,” will land in July. Grouplove will also hit the road this fall on an extensive tour of North America and Europe.
A new Beatles documentary is on the way from veteran filmmaker Ron Howard. The Beatles: Eight Days A Week: The Touring Years will be screening in theaters on September 16 and begin streaming on Hulu the following day. Watch the first trailer below:
