In a new interview with Carson Daly on CHR KAMP (97.1 AMP Radio)/Los Angeles, Lady Gaga says her Super Bowl halftime show will “push the envelope,” but not in a way that censors or the FCC may fear. “The best way to push the envelope is with your guts and your talent,” she said. “And then you also want to push the envelope in terms of your creativity and your music and taking the show to the next level, but I don’t know if it’s the place to push the envelope in other ways. In some ways, I want to lightly lick the envelope, hop inside, close it, write my name on it, and the thing is that I really just want to be there for football fans because that’s what I’m hired to do.” As for her upcoming album Joanne, named for her late aunt, Gaga said, “I thought if she was still here, what would she have to say? … She would be looking around at life because she didn’t get to live it. The spirit of Joanne came through me in every song, so that’s what this album is about. It’s a lot about human connection and you can hear it through the music.” Joanne is out October 21. Following Kim Kardashian‘s high-profile robbery in Paris over the weekend, Kanye West has postponed a pair of concerts this week to stay close to his wife. West’s Saint Pablo concerts in Philadelphia this Wednesday and Detroit this Thursday have been rescheduled for December 13 and 22, respectively. The Saint Pablo tour will resume in West’s hometown of Chicago this Friday night.
Capitol Records is celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Martin Scorsese‘s award-winning documentary No Direction Home: Bob Dylan by releasing a Deluxe 10th Anniversary Edition of the film on October 28 that will mark its first release on Blu-ray (standard DVD is also available). These 10th Anniversary Editions of the film all feature 2 1/2 hours of bonus and never-before-seen content, including extended scenes from the film and full-length interviews with Scorsese, Dave van Ronk and Liam Clancy. Both formats are also available in a Special Edition Deluxe Box that will include both Blu-ray and DVD versions of the film and bonus content, as well as an exclusively produced Bob Dylan magazine that features reproductions of historical articles about the artist, plus three high-quality lithographic photo prints of Dylan, all in a deluxe portfolio.
Justin Bieber has extended his Purpose tour into 2017, with five dates in Australia and New Zealand. Bieber will head Down Under starting March 6 in Perth and wind up in Auckland on March 18. Billboard notes that the Pop star last played Australia in 2013.
