Kanye West has formally split with the streaming music service TIDAL. There had been reports in recent days that West was upset with his deal with the service and allegations that West was owned millions of dollars. According to TMZ, these funds include a bonus related to his exclusive release of his last album, The Life of Pablo, as well as compensation for music videos. Sources have confirmed to Billboard that West and TIDAL have terminated their exclusivity rights.
Foo Fighters
In an interview with BBC 6 Music, Dave Grohl revealed that Shawn Stockman of ’90s R&B superstars Boyz II Men contributed vocals to a new song on the upcoming Foo Fighters record Concrete and Gold. Grohl said Stockman appears on the “heaviest song on the entire record” and was recruited after the rocker ran into him in a parking lot. He described the track as sounding “like Sabbath and Pink Floyd. It’s heavy. It’s the last song on the record. He built a choir; it’s like 40 vocals stacked. It’s insane.” Grohl and drummer Taylor Hawkins also told the BBC that Concrete and Gold is the strangest Foos record yet. Hawkins added, “This is the weird record. Josh Homme — our good mate from Queens Of The Stone Age — he said, ‘You guys made a weird record,’ and he was stoked about it.” Concrete and Gold arrives on September 15.
Kesha will make her long-awaited return with Rainbow, the singer’s first album in almost five years. Lead single “Praying” was released today. Rainbow will be out August 11 on Kemosabe Records/RCA. The album features a wide range of collaborators from Ben Folds to Eagles of Death Metal to Dolly Parton (on a cover of her song “Old Flames Can’t Hold a Candle to You”).
