Justin Timberlake has revealed the complete tracklist for the soundtrack to the upcoming film Trolls, which features his summer hit “Can’t Stop The Feeling.” The album also includes a pair of duets between JT and Gwen Stefani (“What U Workin’ With?” and “Hair Up”). Timberlake and actress Anna Kendrick, who also voices a character in the animated movie, duet on covers of Cyndi Lauper‘s “True Colors” and “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire (who also perform on the track). Ariana Grande has a song on the Trolls soundtrack as well titled “They Don’t Know.” Zooey Deschanel, James Cordon and comedian Ron Funches also contribute to the soundtrack.
Metallica hope to hit the road for some “full-on touring” of America in 2017. Last week the rockers announced their new album Hardwired…To Self Destruct and drummer Lars Ulrich says the band plan to kick off a tour in January of next year. “We did 180 shows on the Death Magnetic tour in two-week periods over three years,” Ulrich told Rolling Stone. “That’s what works for us. We’re going to start pretty much full-on touring in January and are looking to figure out what we’re doing in North America, but there will definitely be some pretty extensive touring in America.” Hardwired…To Self Destruct will be out on November 18.
Jimmy Eat World is teasing their upcoming ninth studio album, due out this fall. Over the weekend, the band debuted the new single “Get Right,” which is currently available as a free download from www.jimmyeatworld.com. In an interview with BBC Radio 1, frontman Jim Adkins said the new album was produced by Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Beck, Paramore). A title and release date are expected soon.
Big Boi and Killer Mike are working on releasing a collaborative EP in the new future, according to a new interview with Big Boi in Spin. The rapper says, “Me and Killer Mike, we’re gonna put out a little EP after I put out my next solo record or something like that. We’ve been entertaining the idea for a long time and finally got enough songs to where we just said the other night that we’re gonna do it.” He adds that working on the tracks has been difficult because “Killer Mike is busy as hell.”
Australian electronic duo Empire of the Sun, who scored a hit with 2008’s “Walking on a Dream” due to a Honda ad earlier this year, have announced their next album. Titled Two Vines, it arrives on October 28 via Astralwerks and features contributions from Fleetwood Mac‘s Lindsey Buckingham, Wendy Melvoin from Prince‘s Revolution and two members of the group that backed David Bowie on his final album Blackstar. Lead single “High and Low” had its world premiere earlier today on KROQ/Los Angeles.
