Chris Brown is back in the news again for his legal troubles. News broke on Tuesday of a standoff with L.A. police due to an alleged assault of a women staying in his home. Today the police confirmed Brown was formally arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon following an extensive search of his house. The woman in question, Baylee Curran, told the Los Angeles Times that Brown pointed a gun at her face after he became upset that she complemented the diamond necklace another man in the house. Brown was released on $250,000 bail.

Teenage pop singer Daya will release her first full-length album, Sit Still, Look Pretty, on October 7. Daya had a hit with the track “Hide Away” as well as “Don’t Let Me Down,” her collaboration with The Chainsmokers. The album collects the six songs from her debut EP alongside eight new tracks.

Over 200 artists are throwing their support behind the appeal of the controversial “Blurred Lines” court ruling. The wide ranging group of musicians have filed an amicus with the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in support of the bid by Pharrell, Robin Thicke and T.I. to overturn the $5.3 million ruling. “The verdict in this case threatens to punish songwriters for creating new music that is inspired by prior works,” states the brief, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “All music shares inspiration from prior musical works, especially within a particular musical genre. By eliminating any meaningful standard for drawing the line between permissible inspiration and unlawful copying, the judgment is certain to stifle creativity and impede the creative process.” The list of artists supporting the appeal includes Rivers Cuomo of Weezer, film score composer Hans Zimmer, R. Kelly and members of a number of bands including Linkin Park, Fall Out Boy, Tool and Train.

Eddie Vedder was previously announced as one of the many, many celebrities involved in the revival of Twin Peaks set for 2017. Now reports say that he will contribute a solo tune to its soundtrack. “Out of Sand” is a song the Pearl Jam frontman recorded for the group’s Third Man Records special collection. The song made its live debut as part of Vedder’s performance over the weekend at the Ohana Music Festival.

Charlie Puth has announced his “Don’t Talk” tour, named after his current single “We Don’t Talk Anymore” featuring Selena Gomez. The new round of touring begins in Dallas on September 26 and wraps up on November 8 in Los Angeles.

Ryan Adams tells Entertainment Weekly that he will release his 16th album on November 4. Adams says he had at least 80 new tunes to whittle down for as-yet-untitled record. He also namechecks a wide variety of artists as having influenced the new material, from AC/DC to Bruce Springsteen to ELO.
