On the heels of his massive night at the Grammys, Bruno Mars has announced a final North American leg of his 24K Magic World Tour. Cities include Boston, Brooklyn, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Los Angeles, Nashville, Newark, Philadelphia, St. Paul, Toronto and Tulsa. The venues and dates for the final leg of the 24K Magic World Tour will be announced soon. Cardi B will open all shows on the trek.
Lady Gaga has canceled 10 European dates this month due to her ongoing battle with chronic pain. Live Nation and Gaga released a statement over the weekend announcing the cancellation of the final shows on her Joanne World Tour’s European leg, saying she “is suffering from severe pain that has materially impacted her ability to perform live.” The statement adds that “she is in the care of expert medical professionals who are working closely with her so she can continue to perform for her fans for years to come.” Gaga has spoken in the past about her health issues, which were chronicled in part in her Gaga: Five Foot Two documentary last year.
The lineup for the 2018 Sasquatch Festival has been announced, with Modest Mouse, David Byrne, The National and Bon Iver atop the bill. Set for May 25-27 in Gorge, WA, a wide variety of acts are on board for the event, including Tyler, The Creator, Ray Lamontagne, Spoon, Neko Case, TV on the Radio, Tune-Yards, Anderson.Paak & the Free Nationals, Grizzly Bear and others. Last week, Paul Simon announced a farewell concert for Hyde Park in London on July 15 as his final live show. The legendary singer-songwriter released a statement today saying he will be going out on the “Homeward Bound – The Farewell Tour” later this year. Simon says in his note to fans that he expects if he ever plays live after this trek, it will be only for the occasional charity event. The tour of North America, the UK and Europe begins in Vancouver on May 16 and wraps with the Hyde Park gig.
Rockers A Perfect Circle will release their first new album in 14 years, titled Eat the Elephant, on April 20. The group, led by singer Maynard James Keenan and guitarist Billy Howerdel, reunited in recent years to play live but last released a full record in 2004 with the mostly-covers album eMOTIVe. APC have a number of live dates, including festival appearances, lined up this spring.
Dennis Edwards, lead singer for Motown legends The Temptations, has passed away, days before what would have been his 75th birthday. Edwards sang lead on many of the group’s biggest hits, such as “Cloud Nine,” “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” and “I Can’t Get Next to You.” He joined the group’s oft-changing lineup in 1968, replacing lead singer David Ruffin, and left and rejoined the Temptations many times over the years.
Dave Matthews Band violinist Boyd Tinsley has announced he is stepping away from the group in 2018. On Friday night, he tweeted, “I need to take a break from the band & touring 2 focus on my family & my health 4 a while. I will miss you guys & my brothers in the band but I’m somewhat worn out & need 2 spend more time with my family & 2 bring more balance to my life. Thanks 4 ur Love.” Tinsley has been a part of DMB since 1992. The band is about to head out on a major 2018 tour, with a new album on the way this summer.
