Britney Spears is the newest confirmed performer for the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards. Spears will be joined by G-Eazy for her new single “Make Me.” It will be the Pop star’s first performance on the awards show since 2007. The VMAs will be handed out on Sunday, August 28.
Spotify has released a trailer for its upcoming Metallica documentary Landmark – Metallica: The Early Years. The four part documentary covers the rockers from 1981-1984. All four chapters will be released simultaneously on August 18. It is the first documentary produced by the streaming service. Watch the trailer below:
Usher, Metric and Grimes will headline the first-ever Canadian version of the Global Citizen Concert. Set for September 17 in Montreal, the event is a free ticketed event, just like the U.S. version. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Bill Gates will also appear at the concert, reports Rolling Stone. A lottery will distribute the 10,000 tickets via the Global Citizen website. The fifth Global Citizen Fest is set for September 24 on the Great Lawn of New York’s Central Park and will be headlined by Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, Metallica, Selena Gomez and Major Lazer.
Bruce Springsteen has published a preview of his anticipated autobiography online by releasing the forward to the book in advance. You can read Springsteen’s forward to his memoir, naturally titled Born to Run, here. Born to Run arrives on September 27.
Jane’s Addiction will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Lollapalooza next month with a special concert at Irvine Meadows Amphitheater, the site of the festival’s first show. Set for September 23, the concert also features Garbage, The Cult, Violent Femmes and House of Pain.
Rapper YG will hit the road this fall with his “FDT” Tour, which stands for “F*** Donald Trump,” which is also the title of a recent single. A new video for a remix of the track was released today to celebrate the tour announcement. YG kicks off his tour in San Diego on September 18 and winds it up on December 4 in Temple, AZ.
