The American Music Awards will honor Whitney Houston and her hit movie/soundtrack The Bodyguard. Christina Aguilera will perform a 25th anniversary tribute as part of the AMAs next month. The Bodyguard was released in theaters on November 25, 1992.
In a statement, Aguilera said, “I am honored and humbled to be asked to participate in such a special tribute of a timeless soundtrack that has been a huge inspiration not only in my own personal life and career, but to countless aspiring singers — touching music lovers worldwide and influencing the history of music itself.
“To be honoring the one and only, Whitney Houston, is a blessing and I am grateful to celebrate the spirit of her songs and legend that lives on,” she continued. I feel eternally fortunate to have personally met her on and off the stage. My deep appreciation for her kindness to me while coming up in the business — her graciousness, generosity, humanity and beauty — lived up to everything I could have hoped for in meeting my idol and will forever be cherished in my memory of her.”

The hosts and musical guests for the next month of Saturday Night Live have been announced. Taylor Swift will return to the show on November 11, which will be hosted by actress Tiffany Haddish. However, most notable is the November 18 episode, which will be hosted by Chance the Rapper. Chance isn’t the musical performer for the night, as that will be Eminem, who’s been rumored to have a new album on the way by the end of the year. As previously announced, Miley Cyrus is this coming weekend’s musical guest, with Larry David hosting.

Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys will hit the road next year on a solo tour. Dubbed the “Easy Eye Sound Revue Tour,” it features Robert Finley and Shannon Shaw, with special guests Shannon & the Clams, all of whom are on Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound label. The singer will be supporting his solo album Waiting on a Song, released earlier this year. The trek kicks off in Vancouver on February 11 and winds up in Denver on April 5.
