What event changed your perspective on life?

Adam Rivers, WKCI / WKSS: Getting fired from WKSS as a part timer at age 18. I needed a wake up/grow up lesson.

Heather Deluca, WSJO: 9/11. The 2016 Presidential Election. The death of my father.

Matt Johnson, WPLW: The birth of my first kid. You just see the world differently.

Frankie V, KSSX/KHTS: My dad passing changed my perspective on life back in 2015! Recently having vocal surgery to fix my voice changed my perspective even more. It’s often adversity in my life that causes me to change my perspective. It’s all about finding the silver lining in those moments.

Bob Patrick, WXLK: Not getting a radio gig that I really thought I deserved for all the right reason.

Brian Mack, iHeartMedia: A few come to mind, all happened in the year 2020: Going to therapy, Getting a coach, Going to Tony Robbins’ UPW, The pandemic, Reading The Surrender Experiment by Michael Singer.

Tommy Chuck, WFLZ: The birth of my children.

Rick Vaughn, KENZ: Having kids. I realized my life’s responsibilities would have to change drastically.

Jeff Hurley, iHeartMedia: Having kids changed everything for me. I feel like pre-2016 and post-2016 me are completely different people.

Derrick Cole, WAEB: Clearly my life perspective changed 3 times…From one child to adding the twins on top of it. It does really make you what is important in life.

Orlando Davis, WLLD: The birth of my daughters and home going of my parents. Those hellos and goodbyes have both made me appreciate time so much more.

Big Rob, KKPL/KMAX: My son being born. Best day of my life. Being a dad is my favorite thing ever.

Toby Knapp, WASH: That’s a never-ending story. In the last month, my entire perspective on life didn’t just change, it was shattered, restored, and made whole again, so, there isn’t just one event. Life… changes my perspective on life every day. I’m thankful for the grace I’ve been given from above to live it every day. No matter what.

Randi West, WRMF: My Mother’s death.

Jonathan Shuford, WRVW: The birth of my child and Covid. One real positive! Covid was negative in a lot of different ways, but it did force me to reset my priorities, and also learn how to function in an environment where I didn’t have to be at the office all the time.

Lee Abrams, mediavisions: No specific event other than continuing to collect knowledge every day.

Mike O’Donnell, WKRZ: My mission’s trip to Haiti. When you see the depraved and difficult conditions that people in third world countries live in, it gives you a whole new perspective on life when you return to our country. That entire experience was enlightening on many levels.

Jon Zellner, iHeartMedia: Getting married, having children, and seeing people die prematurely.

Dom Theodore, Radio Animal Media Strategies: Health scare where I wasn’t sure if I was going to see another year. Makes you re-think everything.

Rich Davis, KDWB: There are two and they both happened around the same time. We had our first son, and then I was diagnosed with cancer. They happened within weeks of each and they certainly changed my outlook on life.

Guy Zapoleon, Zapoleon Consulting: Becoming a born-again Christian was life changing and yes I do look for God’s will in everything! But I still strongly believe in learning the TRUTH about everything through the mainstream media which I also believe in fervently. I’m a voracious consumer of news from all sources (even Conservative sources) and I do have to double and triple check stories for their authenticity and reliable sources.
