You have an unlimited budget to hire a band for your station post-quarantine event.
Who will it be and what venue would you use?
Jonathan Shuford, WRVW: I need the ultimate party band like The Rolling Stones at a big field somewhere to cram as many people into it as humanly possible. Also on the personal side, Matchbox Twenty in my living room because they’re my favorite band of all time. Josh Wolff, WAEB: I would bring Ariana Grande to the Lehigh Valley and that would be a massive event at the PPL Center.
Paul Kelly, WMGM: Metallica on the beach in Atlantic City for WMGM and Billy Joel on the beach in Wildwood for WTKU! Toby Knapp, WASH: POPTOPIA: The Reunion Event of our LIFETIMES. With *NSYNC in a full-blown reunion. The Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson, One Direction, Big Time Rush, Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, and Selena Gomez with NKOTB. Hosted by Carson Daly and Taylor Swift. It would happen over one weekend at AT&T Stadium in Dallas/Ft. Worth. Mike McVay, McVay Media: Hollywood Bowl for the venue. Eagles headline with The Tennessee Werewolves opening for them! |
Jana Sutter, WXXL: Billie Eilish at the Amway Arena, which ironically enough happens to be the last concert I actually went to.
Rick Vaughn, KENZ: Rage Against the Machine at Rice Eccles Stadium. Brian Mack, WXXL: Air talents!
Lee Abrams MediaVisions: Since there’s no budget limitation, I would go the one-off supergroup route. It would differ based on format target, but assuming a heritage rock POV: Paul McCartney (bass), Jimmy Page (lead guitar), Pete Townsend (rhythm guitar), Sting (vocals), Jordan Rudess (keyboards), Bill Bruford (percussion).
R Dub! Z90: Earth Wind & Fire featuring Bruno Mars, The Weeknd, Sam Smith, and Snoop (I have an unlimited budget, so I made it happen!)… venue is San Diego’s Mission Bay! Adam Rivers, WKCI: MGK at the Xfinity Outdoor Arena. His recent area show announced sold out in minutes. |
Fred Deane, Deane Media Solutions: I’m making a rare appearance in QOTW because I couldn’t pass it up! Green Day will perform both American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown albums in their entireties at the legendary 3,000-seat Tower Theater in my hometown of Philly. Tickets are a premium and proceeds benefit the Sierra Club to help save the planet. Stations nationally participate by generating donations for the cause and will receive tickets and flyaway prizes in return.
Jon Zellner, iHeart Media: Sounds an awful like the iHeartRadio Music Festival to me. Buzz Knight, Buzz Knight Media: Hire Pink Floyd to perform on a Space X trip.
Mike “OD” O’Donnell, WKRZ: Maroon 5, Post Malone and Dua Lipa, at our outdoor venue, Montage Mountain. Heather Deluca, WSJO: Maroon 5. And my station parking lot, lol. |
Next Week’s Question Of The Week:
During your life, what’s the one concert or event you were supposed to attend but missed out on, and what were the unforeseen circumstances?
