Which music, entertainment and sports celebs exude natural “cool” without really trying possessing that “it” factor?
Jonathan Shuford, WRVW: Mick Jagger, George Clooney, Derek Jeter.
Kobi, WNRW/WLGX: Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars. They don’t front. They’re the real deal. Brian Michel, iHeartMedia/Atlanta: Ryan Reynolds, he’s just funny…and cool. Chris Michaels, FM100: Bruno Mars. Derrick “DC” Cole, WAEB: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, do I need to say more? Rob Roberts, WRQX: John Lennon, George Clooney, Joe Montana.
Mase, CD1025: Whenever in doubt you turn to Dick Valentine of Electric Six! Rick Vaughn, Power 94.9: Prince Harry is cool and he doesn’t even try at all. K. Flay, she’s been here a couple times and she just walks in and exudes that cool instantly. Twisted Todd, WTPT: I’m sure I won’t be the only one to say Dave Grohl. A drummer turned frontman almost by accident, yet is one of the greatest our generation has ever seen, despite being an even better drummer. He can do virtually anything musically and play with anyone from Sir Paul McCartney to John Paul Jones. He possesses “it.” |
Jonathan Reed, WNOK: Justin Timberlake and former St. Louis Ram Chris Long now with the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles.
Java Joel, WAKS: Post Malone. He looks like a crazy homeless person, but this is proof that you don’t need the IT factor to resonate at radio. Too hell with “marketability.” Just give me the hooks! Reid, KZZP: Justin Timberlake and Bradley Cooper. Chris K, The End: For music in the up-and-coming category I would say Shawn Mendes. He’s kind of a chill dude, doesn’t try to hard and writes really good songs. For a seasoned veteran, Katy Perry purely based on her personality. In the sports world, Steph Curry. Fish Boy, WKRZ: Adam Levine in music and Charles Barkley in the sports world.
Gina Gray, WERO: Shawn Mendes, Matthew McConaughey, Steph Curry. Rich Davis, KDWB: Troy Aikman. Kevin Cruise, KUDD: JT of course! |
Kobe, WWHT: Diplo, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Henrik Lundqvist of the NY Rangers.
Mike “OD” O’Donnell, WKRZ: Shaquille O’Neal for sports and Rob Thomas for music. Chris Mann. WERO: Who else but Frank Sinatra! Sassy, WKXJ: BTS for sure. Mark Cuban is very cool he’s in touch with technology and modern and current. He isn’t like the old-fogey other owners who don’t get it. Tim Cook is very cool, after he came out and said what he said about the Facebook debacle. I loved that! Ed Sheeran just cracks me up with his wit and charm, and it comes so naturally. Kevin Kash, WIYY: I gotta give natural cool to P!nk, James Hetfield, Michael Jordan, and Fonzie (of course). Jeff Hurley, WLAN: Bruno Mars. Amber Miller, WRFF: St. Vincent. I want to be her when I grow up!
Tony Waitekus, WHTQ: Bruno Mars, Jon Bon Jovi, Aaron Rogers, Clay Matthews |
Next Week’s Question Of The Week:
Outside of radio, if you could create a business model to own and operate just for the pure joy of it, what would it be?
