If you were able to break from tradition and host a one-hour show a week to play any music from any genre from any era, what would comprise your segment?
 JB King, KLUC: Movie soundtracks of the 90’s: Above the Rim, New Jack City, Juice, Do the Right Thing, Mo Better Blues, Waiting to Exhale, The Bodyguard, Poetic Justice, Soul Food, Dangerous Minds.

Kobi, WNRW/WLGX: A New Music Spotlight show with interviews featuring both national and local artists. Kobe, WWHT: I would play a different soundtrack from a classic eighties/nineties movie every week. The whole hour would be about the movie, maybe an interview with one of the stars. Those were the decades, all those classic John Hughes movies. Sassy, WKXJ: The best of Michael Jackson from the Jackson 5 era up to the Invincible album. Given hos discography I’d have plenty of material…hit after hit after hit!
Chris K, The End: Fun hits from the eighties and nineties. Todd Lyons, KATS: Traditional blues. Mississippi Fred McDowell, Pinetop Perkins, Memphis Minnie, Robert Johnson, et al.
Shadow, KQRA: The Richard Marx Hour and “Hold on the Nights” would always get played twice. Once to kick it off and once to end it. |
R Dub! Z90: No joke, I’ve always wanted to host a Bossa Nova show for the old timers’ “timeless classics” / standards stations. Stan Getz, Jobim, etc. “Girl From Ipanema” in power rotation. I even began working on a demo but never finished the project.
Raphael Opida, WIOQ: I would play 80s hair band music because I just love the vibe of the 80s! Gimme a few more years in CHR and then I’ll go host iHeart80s! Bob Patrick, WXLK: A late 80s and 90s Freestyle show with all the classics from Stevie B, George Lamond, TKA, Lil Suzy, Cover Girls and more.
Jon Zellner, iHeartMedia: Mid-chart stiffs and other songs that don’t test from the past 20 years. Max Volume, KOZZ: At present? There are two goldmines out there: #1 – Class of ’79 New Wave and #2 – 70’s Prog Rock. I’d do either and put smiles on some ears! Mase, CD1025: I already do. I have a weekly show called The Stash and I play anything from the early 2000’s and back. I may or may not play a lot of Clash songs. |
 Mike Miller, WZFT: Dance / Freestyle hits from the 80s and 90s with some of today best dance music.
Rick Vaughn, KENZ: I would have a different theme every week, but my first month would look like this. The inaugural show would be definitely Rat Pack-era stuff with lots of Sinatra. Second show, I’d go super-deep on Pink Floyd material including B-sides. Third week would be MTV sign-on artists, that first year of MTV. Fourth week would be an electronic chill show. Dom Theodore, Radio Animal Media Strategies: I would have said classic Hip-Hop but luckily that’s an actual format now!
Mike “OD” O’Donnell, WKRZ: It would have to be eighties Pop…I love that era! Some of the best Pop songs of all-time. It was largely fun, feel-good, positive music, no real deep crazy messages, no angry messages, just music that put a smile on your face. Fish, WKRZ: Nineties Hip-Hop!

Kevin Kash, WIYY: I’d host an hour of Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass tunes and tell stories of my childhood.
Java Joel, WAKS: For Kiss/Cleveland? A 2 hour Sunday morning “Throwback” show – 8am-10am. Playin’ stuff from our nearly 20 year existence. Woudn’t that be neat??? Would also love to do a 1 hour “Stiffs Of The 80s and 90s” show. That’s right up my alley!
Matt Johnson, KSLZ: Cutting edge EDM! I have a great interest in the music and I think, while it is niche, there’ definitely a 12 to 30-year-old segment of people who are wildly passionate about the it.
Mel Rose, WKSL: I’d play music from smaller artists. It can still be Pop, although I love Alternative, but bands that aren’t Top 40 yet, and independent artists!
