Can you name something in life that once was cool (Pop trends, technology, fashion, etc.) but no longer is, and how about something that was cool that has remained cool today?

JB King, KLUC: Was cool: DVD/VCR combos, DAT players and Walkman cassette players. Still cool: Ray Bans and Vans.

Jonathan Reed, WNOK: I still can’t get over people that still wear jorts. I would like it if someone were to give me a mix tape. It would be the ‘thought’ that would count.  In the digital form obviously.

Jonathan Shuford, WRVW: PDA’s and Blackberries are no longer cool. What is still cool is (literally) every piece of clothing I ever wore in fourth grade is cool again!

Jon Zellner, iHeartMedia: Were cool at one time: parachute pants, MySpace, hand held electronic games, leg warmers, mullets, spandex, Blackberries, crop tops.  Still cool: The majority of our radio brands and the majority of our personalities.

Rod Phillips, iHeartMedia: Jam shorts USED to be cool, and I rocked ‘em! A good golf swing will always be cool…wish I had one!

Brian Michel, iHeartMedia/Atlanta: Members Only jackets…not so cool any more. Air Forces Ones…somehow still cool, even though I don’t own a pair.

Gina Gray, WERO: Members Only jackets were cool, especially my purple one, but are no longer. Vinyl records rule forever!

Matt Talluto, WYBR: Parachute pants. The Godfather Parts 1 & 2. (Part 3 is alongside parachute pants)

Paul Kelly, WWAC: Sneakers with fat laces used to be the shiz back in middle school! Something that is still cool is the word “cool”. It’s been used by generation after generation while other words that meant the same thing like “keen”, “rad” or “phat” have gone by the wayside. Cool will always be cool.

Jammer, WEZB: Ms. Pac-man! And wait, Ms. Pacman isn’t cool anymore?! I’ll beat anyone!

Java Joel, WAKS: Some of the newbies will say that “hitting the post is no longer cool”. Yes, authenticity and relatable content is paramount, but… hitting the post will always be cool. Usually people who say it’s not cool are the ones who can’t do it.

Reid, KZZP/KMXP: Flip phones (Motorola) and the bag phones. Still cool: Nike sneakers.

Rob Roberts, WRQX: American Idol and The Voice.

David Dyer, WB Records: Mustaches and Paddy Rascona.

Kobi, WNRW/WLGX: Flip phones were cool. Roseanne, Will & Grace and the great TV sitcoms from back in the day seem to be cool to today.

Kevin Kash, WIYY: The list is endless. Flip phones come to mind. Most recently, fidget spinners have lost their coolness, too.  Music is cool and always will be

Brian Mack, WXXL: MySpace is out…and as of today, increasingly more Facebook! Live music will always be the coolest!

Kobe, WWHT: Hammer pants, can’t believe those were a thing. As far as always being cool, music…music is always cool!

Rick Vaughn, Power 94.9: Cee Lo. Flannel still is.

Mike “OD” O’Donnell, WKRZ: Social media is a key part of our lives and will continue to be, but the more people I talked to on a regular basis are really turned off by the negativity that has become the forefront of what social media has been all about in the last few years. To this day, radio is still cool. Not just because I’m in the business but because what other job can you go to everyday and entertain hundreds of thousands of people that can reach you so easily and to be able to do that and still be so unique from market to market.

Chris Mann. WERO: Teddy Ruxpin (that talking bear toy) was once cool. Vinyl records are still cool!

Big Rob, KSME: MySpace! Man, I didn’t think that would ever go away.  And Roller Skating is still cool. IDK if that’s a Pop trend but it should be! It’s how I got my start.

Fish Boy, WKRZ: The Mini-Disk, and vinyl is still very cool.

Next Week’s Question Of The Week:
With Roseanne making a TV comeback recently, what TV shows (any genre/any era) would you like to see make a comeback with its original cast?
