Summer favs: song, film, pastime?
 Jeremy Rice, WBLI: I actually don’t like hot weather beaches and pools. I’m a fall/winter cold weather guy, but for summer I LOVE playing golf, Mets baseball, running, and a nice European vacation with my family is peachy. The greatest event of the summer, besides BLI Summer Jam, is waking up at 6am at watching the British Open Championship in July.
Tommy Chuck, WFLZ: “Summertime,” DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, Jaws, baseball with the AL Champion Tampa Bay Rays! Suck it Yankees! Jon Zellner, iHeartMedia: “Good Vibrations,” Field of Dreams, hiking. Mike “OD” O’Donnell, WKRZ: Summertime” by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. I see Jaws every time it comes on. I’m from the Cape, it’s a can’t miss for me. Floating around in the pool.
Jana Sutter, WXXL: Summertime is all about the beach for me and listening to my favorite tunes. My current summer fav is Masked Wolf, “Astronaut in the Ocean.” Mikey V, Kiss 108: Lizzo “Truth Hurts,” Movie: Anything Marvel. Pastime: Being a part of the Indy 500. Java Joel, Javajoelmurphy@gmail.com: “Summertime” by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince PLUS the song it sampled, “Summer Madness” by Kool & The Gang. Three-way tie with “Summer” by War. My Mom had that one on a K-Tel album when I was a toddler. Dazed And Confused is the greatest “kickoff to summer” movie. Pastime? Hitting up Cleveland Metroparks and tenting in the backyard with the kid. |
Matt Johnson, WPLW: All-time summer favs: “Steal My Sunshine,” Len; (the ORIGINAL) Independence Day (not ever the second one though, it was awful); fireworks and/or birdwatching, not at the same time though, that’d be impossible.
Jagger, KCHZ: Have to go with the obvious one, “Summertime” by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince and “Want To Want Me” by Jason Derulo. Back to the Future, and pastime has to be baseball. Josh Wolff, WAEB: Any movie that makes me laugh. Song has to be “Hot In Here” by Nelly, and love traveling in the summer.
Kobe, WZNE: “Summertime” by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, movie is The Sandlot, and having a barbecue with family and friends is definitely a great summer pastime. Rick Vaughn, KENZ: “Summertime,” DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, Stand By Me, fishing. Jonathan Shuford, WRVW: Favorite summer song of all-time has to be “Summer Love” by Justin Timberlake. Favorite pastime is going to a baseball game…any level. I just love being at a baseball game, it’s great! |

Heather Deluca, WSJO: Song is 100 percent “Summertime” by DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince. Movies are Grease and Back to the Future, for some reason they both remind me of summer. And pastime is strolling a boardwalk in the late afternoon/early evening summer air.
