What do you do or where do you go when you need fresh inspiration?
Jeremy Rice, WXXL: Definitely traveling is good for the mind. Locally I love to recharge with running and biking, that’s 100% important for mental and physical health. Dinner conversation with a nice bottle of wine and great people often brings out creative ideas. Chris Michaels, FM100: Panama City Beach, or Destin, FL. Two of my favorite places to vacation! Adam Rivers, WKCI / WKSS: Golf course. Although I go there even when I don’t need fresh inspiration. R Dub!, Z90/Magic 92.5: Another continent. Always a good reset and refresh!
Guy Zapoleon, Zapoleon Consulting: When I need inspiration. I break my normal routine. I take a long walk along the river in the park near our home or listen to my favorite music. I watch or read something inspirational, or even change my location and write. Even doing several other work projects before returning to the original task. I wrote a lot on trains and planes coming back from a station visit. One sure way to get your endorphins flowing (and inspiration) is to stop and do some kind of exercise. I used to play basketball in the afternoon or swim laps. Drew Heyman, WHYI: I go to the beach and watch the sunrise. |
Mike O’Donnell, WKRZ: I usually change my routine and switch up my schedule. Decide to do something differently to get a new perspective on things. Rick Vaughn, KENZ: Either running or hiking, you have nothing to do but think. Jammer, WEZB: I listen to old airchecks and stations in Canada, England and Australia.
Jagger, KCHZ: Sometimes you have to look back to the past for ideas that could be relevant today. Buster Satterfield, WIOQ: Go outside or call a friend. Valentine, WBHT: First is getting out in nature. Unplug and the thoughts start to flow, or I listen to old aircheck/station demos to give me some inspiration. Orlando Davis, WLLD: Strip club, basketball courts, social media for inspiration in my professional life. All three display how people feel and move to our music. Personal, church and reading. Heather Deluca, WSJO: For a DRIVE! So many ideas pop into my head when I’m out on the road. |
Jon Zellner, iHeartMedia: Usually I find the answers when I’m on a long hike or bike ride. Nature typically rejuvenates the mind which sparks creativity. Jeff Hurley, iHeartMedia: I get that jolt when I’m running. Just 45-60 minutes away from emails and calls with music in my headphones is a great place to find inspiration and clarity. I’m really trying to get away for a week at least twice a year. Those longer breaks during the dead times of the year get me charged back up with fresh ideas and energy. Dom Theodore, Radio Animal Media Strategies: My boat, or if I really need a re-charge, Maui! Matt Johnson, WPLW: I seek creatives who are thinking and evolving things outside of our business and look for parallels I can apply. Erik Bradley, B96: Spend time outside in the fresh air, away from the computer. Bob Patrick, WXLK: I do my best thinking at the Mill Mountain Zoo in Roanoke or The Philadelphia Zoo. |
