What are a few of your fondest summertime childhood memories?

Buster Satterfield, WIOQ:
I had a lock on the ice cream trucks in the neighborhood. Pulled right up into my driveway. I was big screwball guy, with the gum ball at the bottom.

JB King, KLUC: Family vacations, going to Oakland A’s baseball games, spending all day with friends playing sports.

Brian Mack, iHeartMedia: There are so many. But for some reason I came up with running through the grass barefoot. The grass in NY was so soft. We don’t walk barefoot in the grass in FLA as much, like walking on toothpicks by comparison.

Rick Vaughn, KENZ: Playing baseball all the time for sure. I don’t know if they’re fond memories, more like farm memories working my butt off on the farm sweating like crazy and making money.

Jonathan Shuford, WRVW: One was just being outside playing with my friends all the time, we spent hours having fun. The other was my family trips. We travelled a lot across the country, and I never did appreciate it back then as much as I do now. I have great memories of those special trips.

Jon Zellner, iHeartMedia: Long weekends in Cape Cod, Bar Harbor and the Jersey shore, tennis camp, Six Flags Great Adventure and the New York Is Book Country street fair.

Mike O’Donnell, WKRZ: Spending all day in our backyard pool with my buddies. It was great!

Toby Knapp, WASH: Summer getaways to my family’s Hill Country Condo in Wimberly, Texas… before Wimberly (outside of ATX and SATX) was cool. I remember pulling up to Jacob’s Well, a legendary, spring-fed swimming hole, in Texas and swimming, pondering the giant bottle of margaritas in the condo behind a locked closet door and so much more. Tubing down the Guadalupe or Frio rivers… Between this and trips to see my grandparents in Corpus, I had a pretty great childhood in the Summer… and I hope others have memories which continue to be a blessing as mine are.

Matt Johnson, WPLW: One summer, a guy my dad worked with had a boat and we went fishing on Lake Ontario and I caught this huge salmon, and we grilled it that night. It was a fun memory with my dad.

Derrick Cole, WAEB: Not having to work.

Brian Mack, iHeartMedia: There are so many. But for some reason I came up with running through the grass barefoot. The grass in NY was so soft. We don’t walk barefoot in the grass in FLA as much, like walking on toothpicks by comparison.

Jeff Hurley, iHeartMedia: I remember sitting on my grandparents’ front porch swing and shucking fresh peas. We’d eat about half of them before dinnertime.

Jammer, WEZB: Stay out until midnight. Lots of listening to the radio.

Bartel, WKTU: Phillies games at The Vet in Philly. Hangin’ at the shore on LBI. BBQs at the shore.

Erik Bradley, B96: Going to the Braves game with family. I was also on the swim team as a kid, and spending lots of time with family and friends in smalltown USA.

Adam Rivers, WKCI / WKSS: Going to Fenway Park with my family.

Drew Heyman, WHYI: Playing sports, like pickup basketball games, with my Dad.

Bob Patrick, WXLK: Playing baseball from sun up to sun down. Chasing the Mr. Softee Truck. Camping on the weekends with my father.

Jana Sutter, WXXL: Beach weeks with the family, sleeping in, and spending all day at the pool.

Dom Theodore, Radio Animal Media Strategies: As a kid growing up in the Midwest, it was Cedar Point!

Heather Deluca, WSJO: Chasing after the Mister Softee truck, Freeze Pops in the swimming pool in our backyard, watching Little League baseball games (for boys I had crushes on, lol), spending a week with family at the Jersey Shore. Great times!
