If you can go back in time and witness one historic, entertainment or sporting event, what would it be and why?
Alex Tear, Y100 / iHeartMedia Miami: The 1984 World Series. I have a great memory of being with my father in downtown Detroit when the Tigers won, it was my senior year in High School.
Mike “OD” O’Donnell, WKRZ: I would go back to see Michael Jackson on his Victory tour. My one regret in this business is that I never got to see him perform live. The timing was never right for me…unfortunately. Jonathan Shuford, WRVW: The Ice Bowl, Packers vs. Cowboys, or the The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show.
Joey Brooks, WHYI / WMIA: Bobby Orr visited me in the hospital when I was a kid so he’s my favorite athlete of all time. I’d go back to see his game winning goal for the Stanley Cup in 1970. Big Rob, KSME: Let’s go back to watch MJ at the Super Bowl. Such an iconic performance! In fact, I’d take going back to seeing any MJ show live. I certainly, missed that opportunity! Rick Vaughn, Power 94.9: Chicxulub Asteroid impact.
Brian Michel, iHeartMedia / Atlanta: Moses parting the Red Sea…because why not?
Bartel, WKTU: The 1980 World Series Phillies win and the original Woodstock. Casey, WIOQ: To last Sunday night and watch the Eagles kick Tom Brady‘s butt again! Josh Reich, WB Bros. Records: The 1995 Source Awards, which changed the direction of music forever.
Todd Lyons, KATS: Can I go forward in time and see the Seattle Mariners win their first World Series? PLEASE?!?!
Tony Waitekus, WHTQ: I’d like to see the rise of Elvis Presley in his early days…seeing concerts and interviewing him on the radio when that was possible. |
Brian Mack, WXXL: 1964 Beatles at Shea Stadium…I’m a Mets and Beatles fan!
Michael McCoy, WNCI: The Aaron Boone Game 7 home run game that sent the Yanks to the series in 2003. It was the best of all worlds with that one…Red Sox go home! Mike McVay, Cumulus Media: The Steelers‘ first Super Bowl win because I’m a Steelers fan and that team was full of Hall of Famers! Jon Zellner, iHeartMedia: Historic: JFK assassination. Entertainment: The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show. Sports: game six of the 1977 World Series. Kobe, WWHT: The Grammy performance when Michael Jackson debuted the “moonwalk.” For sports it would be the night of Mario Lemieux returned after he beat cancer. Fish Boy, WKRZ: The 1980 winter Olympics hockey team in Lake Placid. Rob Roberts, WRQX: The Beatles playing at the Cavern in Germany.
Toby Knapp, WASH: I would have wanted to be in the room when the signers of the U.S. Declaration of Independence signed their names to a document which would make them instantly outlaws, hunted down by the authorities, but which would ultimately change the world. This ‘idea’ that is America means something and what we do – protected by the right we have to free speech – means everything. Jonathan Reed, WNOK: The St. Louis Cardinals‘ 2011 Game 6 win that forced a Game 7 and an eventual Word Series win. Java Joel, WAKS:The “We Are The World” recording session. Brian Michel, iHeartMedia-Atlanta: Moses parting the Red Sea…cause why not? |
Reid, KZZP: North Carolina Tar Heels winning the Championship in 1982 with Michael Jordan.
Heather Deluca, WSJO: The 1980 Winter Olympics when USA hockey beat Russia. Paul Kelly, WWAC: Let’s go wayyy back and witness The Beatles on Ed Sullivan. Most of us in the music biz wouldn’t be doing what we do today if that performance never happened. Jammer, WEZB: Sunday 2-4-18 in Philadelphia because I was there and saw the insanity when the Eagles won the Super Bowl… Can we do it again next year? Chad Rufer, KZZO: From the music side it would have to be “The Main Event” with Frank Sinatra and from a historic side, “The Last Supper.” Chris Mann, WERO: I would have loved to see Sinatra and the Rat Pack at the Sands Casino in 1960. That was a little piece of entertainment history that can’t be repeated. Rod Phillips, iHeartMedia: The Ice Bowl in Lambeau! Forever a Packer fan and cold weather doesn’t scare me. Chris Michaels, FM100: I would love to go back and see Prince live in concert. I never had the chance to see him.
Bob Patrick, WXLK: Game 6 of the 1980 World Series. I was too young to really know what was going on and would love to have felt that moment when Tugger [Tug McGraw] struck out Willie Wilson. Live-Aid in Philly. I had an All Star baseball game the same day and would have loved to be able to be there at the old JFK Stadium. Ken Carson, Mid-West Family Broadcasting-Springfield, IL: The original Woodstock Music and Arts Festival with a rain poncho and a great camera. Why? Because rock is my lifeblood and it didn’t get any better than those three days. |
