What are your favorite “buzzwords of the day” whether industry or general-life related?
Bartel, WKTU: “Deep Dive” seems to be the new phrase replacing “under the hood.” Jonathan Shuford, WRVW: Synergy’s always a fun one…and lately, unprecedented.
Jon Zellner, iHeartMedia: Here are a few that come to mind that we tend to use often: Brand Identity, AI, Social Influencers, Integrated Marketing, KPIs.
Josh Wolff, WAEB: I hear “it is what it is” a lot. It drives me batty. Kevin Kash, WWEG/WIYY: I can give you my least favorite ones instead. I’m not a fan or jumping on the buzzword bandwagon. Latest cringe-worthy expressions are “deep dive” and “that’s a lot to unpack.” |
Mikey V, Kiss 108: “Interaction”… by any means necessary.
Randi West, WRMF: Viral, synergy, pivot, and optimize, and I wouldn’t call them my favorite. Many of these are overused. Mike “OD” O’Donnell, WKRZ: Social distancing, limited resources, and multi-tasking. Toby Knapp, WASH: Anything related to the phrase “pre-pandemic” or “new normal.” If one has lived knowing the only constant is change, one has lived knowing that every day brings with it a new normal. I’ve also noticed a rise in these pseudo-titles, too, over the last year. Words like “guru” or “wizard” or “futurist visionary” sound pretty and whatnot, but what do they mean? Finally… “virtual” and “zoom.” Now if you’ll pardon me, I need to go virtually prepare for another zoom conversation about the new normal with a social futurist visionary about life in the new normal. Valentine, WBHT: Pre-COVID. Max Volume, KOZZ: Catchphrase that’s no longer cool: “That’s my jam.” |
Kobe, WZNE: Italy and the Greek Islands, in a heartbeat! Lee Abrams MediaVisions: AFDI (actually —ing doing it), Passion Character & muscle, Futurevision, Think in stereo, Average sucks.
Jana Sutter, WXXL: Pivot and adjust. Adam Rivers, WKCI: “Feel Good.” Buzz Knight, Buzz Knight Media: Healthy Paranoia/important Buzzwords for the moment. Slice and dice the words as you choose. Combine them for a meaningful way to lock at a world of disruption. |
Next Week’s Question Of The Week:
When it’s safe to travel again, hopefully sooner than later, and if you could go anywhere in the world expense-free, what’s your destination and why?
