Which Pop and/or Rock stars from any era would still be relevant today if they were to have a fantasy comeback career?

Jon Zellner, iHeartMedia: The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Genesis, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors.

Java Joel, WAKS: Obviously, Hall & Oates… but they’d probably be accused of “cultural appropriation.”

Paul Kelly, WWAC: James Brown would still be amazing if he were in his prime today.

John Reynolds, WNKS: Aerosmith, they’ve already done it, they can certainly do it again!

Chris K, The End: Marvin Gaye because everyone has sampled his songs so his beats would sound fresh and the fact that we need tempo and fun and those are qualities that he brought with his music. He was the Bruno Mars of the 70’s.  You could also drop TLC into today Pop scene and they’d fit in just fine. We haven’t had a real good girl group on the radio in a while.

Mike “OD” O’Donnell, WKRZ: The nineties version of Mariah Carey, that would go over big today. Michael Jackson because he and his music transcend time, and will never get old or sound old.

Jonathan Shuford, WRVW: Amy Winehouse, may she rest in peace.

Jason LaChance, Radio Merced: David Bowie

Jonathan Reed, WNOK: Stevie B. The King of Freestyle!

Jeremy Rice, WBLI: This is who who’s music I feel would still be relevant as in TODAY, in their prime, or slightly past prime making new music: Fugees, Frank Sinatra, Joy Division, Hall & Oates, Nas, Blondie, Bob Marley.

Kobi, WNRW/WLGX: 2Pac and Biggie.

Matt Johnson, KSLZ: John Lennon because he was such a political force and today’s environment is right for that kind of artist.

R Dub! Z90: Louis Armstrong. Collabo with Cardi B. Fire!

Valentine, WBHT: My number one choice is *NSYNC! Honorable mentions to Spice Girls and Fugees/Lauryn Hill.

Otis Day, WIXX: The Beatles! I would think that might have adjusted and used computers and technology to create even more hits.

Sassy, WKXJ: Jimi Hendrix because the guitar vibe is really cool to millennials and he was a rebel and they’d like that as well. *NSYNC (no offense to BSB), but they are the ones that people are waiting for to have a reunion tour. They’d sell out stadiums hands-down. Tupac could have a rap song with somebody really popular like Young Thug and everybody would think that Tupac’s cool again!

Kevin Kash, WIYY: Rock’s obvious choice would be Led Zeppelin. Pink Floyd would be up there also.

Kobe, WWHT: Michael Jackson because of his talent and he had the right mix of coolness and eccentricity to keep you interested. The Rolling Stones because they’re the definition of Rock stars and everything we’ve come to learn about the Rock star life, they personified it. Frank Sinatra because he’s equally talented on multiple fronts, singing, acting, he would be this generation’s Justin Timberlake.

Dom Theodore, Radio Animal Media Strategies: Prince was way ahead of his time. I always felt years later that much of his music sounded “contemporary” next to currents.

Heather Deluca, WSJO: I think I could make a case for Janis Joplin and Michael Jackson.

Rick Vaughn, KENZ: Vanilla Ice with all the “frat Rap” that’s so popular these days, and Frank Sinatra because he’d be popular in any era.

Rob Roberts, WRQX: T-Rex, Glam never goes out of style.

Fish Boy, WKRZ: The way the culture is with music today, Prince would fit right.  Whitney Houston would be relevant in any era. She would shine today!

Emily Wild, WLKK: DEATH, the band from the 70’s that never saw the light of day until a few years ago.
