What do you feel are the major driving forces behind Pop culture today?

Brian Mack, WXXL: Technology is the big conduit to Pop culture. You can get everything you need much quicker and much more customized than before, and technology is the pathway that drives it all.

Mike “OD” O’Donnell, WKRZ: Social media is the number one driver given what’s happening on digital platforms and the trends that are created and virally passed on. Kids live there! I would also say celebrities and television and the way technology has brought celebs closer to their audiences and fans, both in the entertainment and sports fields.

Bill Tanner, SummitMedia: Smart phones. What else is so omni-present?

Heather Deluca, WSJO: Social media hands down. We’re all up in each other’s business.

Dom Theodore, Radio Animal Media Strategies: Technology is the biggest driver today as everyone has an audience of their own. Anybody or anything can instantly become a Pop culture force in a matter of minutes just by posting it online.

Kobi, WNRW/WLGX: Social media.

Chris “Hollywood” Mann, WERO: Social media.

Derrick “DC” Cole, WLAN: It’s all about social media, good or bad. Something can be viral in a second, yet go away just as fast as it came.

Heather Deluca, WSJO: Social media hands down. We’re all up in each other’s business.

Joey Brooks, WHYI/WMIA: Social media! The platforms continue to change the way that we interact and discover content.

Toby Knapp, WIHT: The 24-hour news cycle, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.

Jonathan Shuford, WRVW: Social media, cause marketing, and a greater awareness/appreciation for different styles and cultures.

Kobe, WWHT: More hits are being broken now through social media and they’re coming to radio next. Of course, trendsetting and tastemaker celebrities from music, entertainment and sports will always be a factor. Those that people want to emulate.

Reid, KZZP: Social media. It feeds the beast and buzz.

Fish Boy, WKRZ: Social media is one and two, followed by radio.

Matt “MJ” Johnson, KUDD: Anything in your feed because that’s how information is disseminated, through your feed regardless of the platform.

Java Joel, WAKS: Social media. Nothing else seems to even come close.

Jeff Hurley, WHKF: Social media is the biggest factor. I think the audience drives Pop Culture more than ever these days. It’s more of a bottom up, and less top down, and that’s all because of social media. The audience is more of a gatekeeper than they used to be.
Chris Michaels, FM100: Social Media definitely. Snapchat and Instagram are highly important to be in constant contact with listener’s and fans, as well as building your profile and brand.
Jimmy Steal, Power 106: Mark Zuckerberg since he runs FB and IG, and Evan Spiegel since he runs SC.
Jammer, WEZB: Live w/Kelly & Ryan, Netflix, Shazam and social media especially Instagram.
Jeremy Rice, WBLI: Long Islands #1 for ALL THE HITS 106.1 BLI.

Kid Jay, KGGI: SOCIAL MEDIA!

Kevin Kash, WWEG: The internet, social media, apps. Adapt and change with the times.
