Queen + Adam Lambert, Pharrell Williams, Alicia Keys, OneRepublic, H.E.R. and Carole King are among the acts announced for the 2019 Global Citizen Festival. The annual event calls on citizens around the globe, as well as world leaders, to end extreme poverty and support a variety of other charitable causes. French Montana, Ben Platt and Jon Batiste & Stay Human are also on the bill.
Deborra-lee Furness and Hugh Jackman will host the event once again, with co-hosts Elvis Duran, Matt Bomer, Rachel Brosnahan, Taraji P. Henson, Rami Malek, Bill Nye, Joy Reid and Forest Whitaker.
iHeartMedia will broadcast the festival across its radio stations nationwide and it will also air on MSNBC. The festival will live-stream via YouTube and Twitter as well.
As always, tickets are free, but to acquire them, you must download the Global Citizen app and take action to support the organization’s causes, such as signing petitions and calling politicians. Once you’ve earned enough “points” for completing these actions, you are entered into a drawing for tickets.
“Like Live Aid in 1985, we believe this concert will be a milestone,” Queen’s Brian May said. “It will generate practical solutions to address the world’s glaring anomalies. Global Citizen is an organization which has already moved mountains. We hope this concert will be the beginning of a new era in which all creatures on Earth will eventually benefit.”
