The nominees for the 2020 Billboard Music Awards were announced this morning and Post Malone leads the pack with 16 nominations in 15 different categories. Post’s nominations include Top Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album, Top Male Artist and Top Billboard 200 Artist, among others.
The second-most nominated artist is Lil Nas X with 13 nods. Billie Eilish and Khalid each earned 12 nominations. Kanye West is up for nine awards, but interestingly they are all under Christian music categories, thanks to his Jesus is King release.
Due to the pandemic, the awards show was pushed back from April, meaning the nominating period ended back in March, which is why some eligible releases date way back to early 2019 or even earlier in some instances.
Kelly Clarkson will return as host for the 2020 Billboard Music Awards, which will broadcast live from Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 14 at 8:00 p.m. ET on NBC.
