The Philadelphia 76ers have announced that it has renewed a multi-year partnership with Beasley Media Group’s WPEN (97.5 The Fanatic) to serve as the team’s flagship radio station.
The announcement was made on Mornings with Anthony Gargano, which broadcasted live this morning at the state-of-the-art Philadelphia 76ers Training Complex in Camden, New Jersey for the start of 76ers Training Camp.
The Fanatic will continue to exclusively broadcast 76ers games as well as remain the official home of 76ers pre-game, halftime and post-game shows. Perennial fan favorite broadcaster Tom McGinnis will return for his 23rd season and continue his duties as the radio voice of the team.
The partnership between the 76ers and The Fanatic will also feature more 76ers programming, content and promotions than ever before. The Fanatic will air its radio show, “Sixers in :60, presented by Toyota” hosted by Devon Givens and Brian Seltzer, 10 times this season. The show will feature guest appearances from 76ers players, coaches and executives that will give fans a unique, inside look at the team.
The “Sixers in :60, presented by Toyota” show is just one aspect of The Fanatic’s increase in 76ers coverage. Recently, former 76ers beat writer Bob Cooney joined The Fanatic as Anthony Gargano’s new morning co-host.
The partnership also contains marketing elements, which include The Fanatic’s annual Listener Knockout Tournament on Feb. 9 after the 76ers-Pelicans game at The Center and additional in-arena exposure at games.
“97.5 The Fanatic has been a tremendous partner and we’re excited to have them as the flagship station of the 76ers for years to come,” Philadelphia 76ers President Chris Heck said. “As our team continues to grow and progress, we’re thrilled that our fans can hear all of the action on 97.5 with legendary 76ers radio voice Tom McGinnis. We’re also looking forward to hearing more 76ers content than ever before across the 97.5 platforms as the city of Philadelphia rallies around our dynamic, young team.”
“We are proud to announce a multi-year extension of our partnership with the Philadelphia 76ers,” said Joe Bell, Vice President and Market Manager of Beasley Media Group’s Philadelphia-based radio properties. “They are a world-class organization with some of the best young talent in the NBA. As the Flagship Radio Station since 2012, we’ll be on the edge of our seats with all the 76ers fans to see what’s next.”
