Paul McCartney‘s latest album, Egypt Station, has become the Beatle’s first #1 album in 36 years on the Billboard chart. Egypt Station earned 153,000 units, with 147,000 in traditional album sales. His last #1 album was Tug of War in 1982. Egypt Station is his eighth #1 record (counting the Wings catalog). It is also his first album to debut at #1, reports Billboard. Like many current releases, the album’s debut week was boosted by a ticket/album bundle, as well as various merchandise bundled deals online.
Last week’s #1 album, Kamikaze from Eminem, moves to #2. At #3 is a debut from Christian singer/songwriter Lauren Daigle with her newest record Look Up Child. Daigle earns the largest week for any Christian artist in almost nine years as well as the biggest for any Christian artist’s album since Billboard began including streaming data in its charts. Rapper Russ has the next-highest debut on the chart with Zoo at #4. Daigle and Russ also saw their album numbers boosted with various bundled deals.
Drake is at #5 with Scorpion, followed by the late Mac Miller, whose previous release Swimming climbs from #71 to #6 following his passing earlier this month. Travis Scott is at #7 with Post Malone at #8. Rap duo $uicideboy$ have the third top ten debut this week, with I Want to Die in New Orleans at #9. The top ten is rounded out by Ariana Grande‘s Sweetener.
