Global Citizen and the World Health Organization, together with Lady Gaga, raised approximately $127.9 million in commitments in support of healthcare workers in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, following Saturday night’s One World: Together at Home global broadcast special.
The historic eight-hour special garnered kicked-off with a six-hour digital stream that was followed by a two-hour broadcast special. The broadcast portion of the event was hosted by Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert, with friends from Sesame Street.
The broadcast featured at-home performances from Gaga, as well as Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas, Lizzo, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Kacey Musgraves and others. Beyoncé made an appearance, but did not sing, instead drawing attention to how COVID-19 has affected the African-American community, saying, “This virus is killing black people in alarming rates here in America.” One World: Together at Home also included appearances from former First Ladies Michelle Obama and Laura Bush.
Additionally, the entire concert has been released digitally as a streaming album, with all proceeds also going to charity. The 79-track album adds up to over four hours of music in total. The full event can also still be re-watched on YouTube here.
