NRG Media in Omaha has changed 101.9 The Keg from Classic Rock to Adult Hits. The station has been playing in the Classic Rock arena for several years, but with the addition of long-time programmer Jay Michaels, NRG Media is taking the station Adult Hits.  NRG Media Market Manager Mark Shecterle made the internal announcement last week about the changes.

The NEW 101.9 KEG will add a morning show to round out the on-air line-up.  Matt Tompkins formerly of sister station, SWEET 98.5, will host the show beginning Monday morning.  The show will be music intensive, but also entertaining and very interactive with the audience through the website as well as all social media platforms.

In addition to being the Program Director for SWEET 98.5 and POWER 106.9, Jay will pick up the duties of PD for The NEW 101.9 The KEG.  The stations new positioning statement will be “#1 for Variety” and will feature core artists like Bon Jovi, Madonna, Queen, Journey, and George Michael.

Shecterle stated, “I am beyond excited to have Jay leading the charge from the programming and music side, while veteran on-air talent Matt Tompkins will kick-off the day with a fun, new and entertaining morning show on The NEW 101.9 The KEG”.

Michaels commented, “This is a huge opportunity for NRG Media to own the adult listener in Omaha.  Who doesn’t like hearing “Sweet Child of Mine” into “Bette Davis Eyes” and then not knowing what’s going to be played next”.

The new Matt in the Morning show kicked off Monday morning, 6a.m. – 10a.m., followed by Crash Davis from 10a.m. – 3p.m. and Mike Neville from 3p.m.-7p.m.
