Noah Sheer has been promoted at Def Jam Recordings to EVP/Head of Promotion. Sheer was previously EVP, Rhythm/Crossover & Lifestyle Promotion since 2018, following two years as SVP, Rhythm/Crossover & Dance Promotion.
Sheer reports jointly to incoming Def Jam Records Chairman/CEO Tunji Balogun and EVP/GM Nicki Farag.
Farag says, “I have had the pleasure and honor of working with Noah for twenty years. His love, respect and reverence for the Def Jam logo – it’s artists and legacy and most of all music – is unmatched. I’m beyond proud to see him elevate in this capacity, and to continue to work alongside him every day. Noah’s leadership, passion and talent will continue to leave its mark on the future of this company.”
Sheer added, “Twenty-two years ago when I landed a gig at Def Jam Recordings, I was awestruck. Dream-come-true s**t. Not only is this the most iconic and legendary record label in existence, but it has graciously provided me some of the most significant and incomparable life-altering experiences. I am so thankful to all who have assisted in my growth through my two-decade-plus run here; Specifically, most recently, Jeff Harleston for his guidance and leadership, and to Nicki Farag, our GM and fearless leader. You, my friend, are remarkable. Being able to grind in lockstep alongside you these past twenty years, and watch you ascend, has been a true honor.”
In addition to Sheer’s new role, Laura LaMartina and Mundo Garcia also received promotions at Def Jam, as both are now VPs of Promotion. LaMartina will lead CHR, Hot AC and AC promo and Garcia will oversee Rhythm promotion.
LaMartina said, “After beginning my career at Top 40 radio nineteen years ago in my hometown, I am humbled to be elevated to the executive level at Def Jam Recordings, to lead promotion for that same format. Breaking careers for artists and connecting the public to their music has been hugely rewarding. I look forward to meeting the new challenges of this industry with energy, strategy and innovation. Def Jam is an inimitable, deeply cultural brand, and I am fortunate and endlessly grateful to Noah Sheer, Nicki Farag and the entire team to be able to play a small part in its story!”
Garcia stated, “As an intern, I never could have imagined a career spanning over a decade at Def Jam. It’s been an honor to work with and contribute to such amazing team members and artists. Thank you to Nicki Farag and Noah Sheer for allowing me to grow into an executive role with this company. Congratulations to Noah Sheer, Laurie LaMartina and the rest of the team on their respective promotions. I’m excited for the bright future ahead.”
