Overnight, JAY-Z announced that he will be releasing a new album at the end of the month. Titled 4:44, it had been teased in recent weeks with subway posters and ads, with no explanation. 4:44 will be exclusive to TIDAL upon its release as well as Sprint customers, as part of the recent partnership between the two companies.
According to the announcement, 4:44 is “the first in a series of exclusives offered to the 45 million postpaid and prepaid Sprint customers and existing TIDAL members.” Of course, Jay is a part-owner of TIDAL.
Rolling Stone reports that 4:44 will also be the name of a TIDAL-only film on the way starring Mahershala Ali, Lupita Nyong’o and Danny Glover. A clip from the film debuted overnight as well, featuring part of a new JAY-Z song titled “Adnis.”
Also, Pitchfork has confirmed that Jay is now officially stylizing his name as “JAY-Z,” as per the press release announcing 4:44. Years back, he decided to formally only spell it as “Jay Z” with no hyphen but now it’s all caps and a hyphen.
Last but not least, according to multiple reports over the weekend, Beyoncé gave birth to her and Jay’s twin babies in the past week. However, the notoriously private couple has not formally confirmed the news.
