Mike Kaplan has been named SVP of Programming & PD at Entercom Modern Rock WBMP (ALT 92.3)/New York, effective today. “I’m coming home – both personally and professionally,” Kaplan said. “I’m so happy to be working again with David Field, Pat Paxton, Weezie Kramer and Susan Larkin as their leadership and scale in the Alternative world has jumped Entercom to the top.”
Kaplan was most recently PD of iHeartMedia Modern Rock KYSR (ALT 98.7)/Los Angeles and before that was in the Entercom family as PD of Modern Rock KNDD (107.7 The End) & Classic Hits KMTT (103.7 The Mountain)/Seattle.
Additionally, Christine Malovetz joins ALT 92.3 as the first on-air jock for the station. Starting today, Christine will be heard middays from 10am-3pm. She arrives from Entercom-St. Louis CHR KNOU (NOW 96.3), where she served as APD/midday host. Prior to NOW 96.3, she was “Electra” on Modern Rockers WKQX (Q101)/Chicago, WPLY (Y100)/Philadelphia and WBTZ (99.9 The Buzz)/Burlington, VT.
“I’m thrilled and honored to be part of the talented team bringing alternative music back to the New York airwaves,” said Christine. “It is a dream come true to return to the east coast and to the format I grew up loving.”
“We are thrilled to welcome Mike and Christine to ALT 92.3 and are looking forward to having their talent and drive propel the brand to new heights in New York,” said Susan Larkin, Regional President/Market Manager, Entercom. “As we continue to engage with the passionate alternative music community in the city, we look forward to building out a top-notch team.”
Entercom launched ALT 92.3 last November when it took over the frequency as part of the CBS Radio deal.
