Lizzo has announced her first new single since 2019’s breakthrough album Cuz I Love You. “Rumors” will land on August 13 and was teased by the artist on Instagram over the weekend with the caption “NEW ERA BITCH. RUMORS 8/13.”
It can be assumed that “Rumors” is the first taste of her next studio album, especially since she posted a reply to a fan question on TikTok last month with a clip of herself in the studio saying, “A album? Absolutely not, I’m not making no f***in’ album! I’m not in a studio. This isn’t Mark Ronson. This isn’t a whole board. I’m not hanging out with songwriters like [Philip Lawrence of Bruno Mars’ songwriting/production team The Smeezingtons]. I’m not making a f***in’ album! Where you get that from?”
Lizzo is set to headline the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival on September 4 and perform at Global Citizen Live on September 25, Firefly Music Festival on September 26, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival on October 10 and Outside Lands on October 30. Lizzo will also make her return to her home state of Minnesota for a headline show at Welch, MN’s Treasure Island Amphitheater on September 11.
