Lil Wayne has earned the fourth #1 album of his career with Tha Carter V, which tops this week’s Billboard 200 chart. According to Nielsen Music‘s data, Tha Carter V totaled 480,000 equivalent album units, which is the third-largest number for an album this year. Most notable, however, is that The Carter V now has the second-biggest streaming week for an album since Billboard began tracking this data. It earned 433 million on-demand streams for its songs in one week. Weezy’s last #1 album was, naturally, Tha Carter IV, which arrived in 2011.
However, Lil Wayne isn’t the only big story on the Billboard 200 this week, as four more releases debuted in the top ten. Coming in at #2 is Logic with YSIV, giving the rapper his fifth top ten album. YSIV earned 167,000 units, much of which was driven by album sales and album/merchandise bundles from his website.
At #3 is the legendary Cher with Dancing Queen, an all-ABBA covers record inspired by her role in this summer’s Mamma Mia sequel. Billboard notes it was the top selling album of the week as well. Dancing Queen‘s numbers were bolstered by a concert ticket/album bundle.
Rapper Kevin Gates debuts at #4 with Luca Brasi 3, which is Gates’s third top ten album of his career. Following Gates is Drake at #5, Eminem at #6, Travis Scott at #7 and Post Malone at #8.
The fourth debut is An American Treasure, a new set of material by the late Tom Petty, which comes in at #9. An American Treasure was released in a variety of formats, including a deluxe box set.
The Billboard 200’s top ten is wrapped up with ? from the late XXXTentacion at #10.
