The industry mourns the passing of Don “Masters” Mastrocola, the iconic Boston/New England promotion specialist who dedicated a lifetime to his love of music. Don, who was 90 years-old at his passing, is best remembered by hundreds of label and radio professionals as a friend.
DMS CEO Fred Deane reflects, “There are very few field promotion reps that made a lasting impression on his colleagues as Don did. He was one of the most affable, magnetic and charismatic people this industry has ever seen. He made doing business with him an extremely pleasant experience. His spirit will live in many of us who have had a personal connection with him throughout our careers.”
Former label executive David Leach, who worked with Don for over two decades, comments, “Donnie was always a man who put his heart and soul into every artist he worked. The artists were the only people he would place on equal footing with his family and close friends. There was never a promotion task too big for Donnie. He was simply one of the best local reps I’ve ever worked with. My prayers and thoughts are with his lovely wife Norma and their family.”
Don is survived by is his wife Norma “Hayward” “Claflin” Mastrocola of Naples, Florida, his children and their spouses Joy Anastasi, Denise and husband Patrick Coppola, Thomas and wife Nancy Claflin, Eugene “Geno” and wife Paula Claflin, as well as several grand and great-grand children
