MTV has announced the nominees for its annual Video Music Awards, with Kendrick Lamar topping the list. The rapper earned eight nominations, all for the clip for his single “HUMBLE.” Katy Perry and The Weeknd each earned five nominations.

The VMAs have shaken up and simplified their award categories and no longer divide artists by gender. MTV also made this change with its recent MTV Movie & TV Awards. Additionally, “Best Fight Against the System” has been added to celebrate videos that inspire viewers to stand up and fight injustice. Nominees for the socially voted category “Best Song of Summer” will be announced at a later date.

Fans can vote online for eight of the VMA categories, including Video of the Year. The VMAs will be handed out live on August 27. See the complete list of nominees at MTV.com/VMA. <http://www.mtv.com/vma>
